 Robert founded Vista in 2000, after 14 distinguished years of business experience, primarily in investment banking and technical management positions. Robert has been active in all of Vista’s transactions, sitting on the Boards of all portfolio companies. Before founding Vista, Robert focused on mergers and acquisitions in the technology industry for Goldman, Sachs & Co., and when he left in 2000 was the co-head of the Enterprise Systems and Storage Business. While at Goldman Sachs he executed over $50 billion in transactions across a broad range of technology segments. These segments included enterprise software, storage software, internet infrastructure, semiconductors, contract manufacturing, data networking, and computer systems for clients such as Microsoft, Sun Microsystems, Apple, Autodesk, Agilent, Texas Instruments, Cadence, Ebay, Edify, Pinnacle Systems, IMS Health, Yahoo!, Hewlett Packard, Jabil Circuits, Micron Technologies, Silicon Graphics, UCS, Octel, Gateway, and BroadVision. While at Goldman Sachs, he was a business unit manager for the Mergers and Acquisitions Group based in NYC, and was responsible for conflict clearance, team staffing, recruiting, reviews, marketing strategy, and fee schedule integrity. Robert began his career at Goldman Sachs executing various buy-side, sell-side, leveraged buyout, raid-defense, leveraged re-capitalization, and restructuring transactions across multiple industries.
Prior to working at Goldman Sachs, Robert worked in technical and operational management positions at Kraft General Foods, Air Products and Chemicals, The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and Bell Laboratories. He is the principal inventor on two United States and two European patents. Robert holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University and an M.B.A. degree from Columbia University, where he graduated with Beta Gamma Sigma honors and earned numerous academic achievement awards.
