Software Business Magazine: Throw Out the Crystal Ball
Accurately foresee future revenue streams to drive business projections.
Some refer to the current market as being the centerpiece of a "recovering economy," the post dot-bomb era, where American businesses are re-making their fortunes after the burst of the high-tech bubble. Still others feel our economic state is uncertain, but trends indicate cautious optimism. But when no one can predict exactly where we are going as a nation in terms of fiscal health, there is one constituency that is still expected to deliver accurate, detailed and achievable revenue forecasts: company executives, whether in private or public enterprises. They're also required to make sound business decisions based on these forecasts and to reach their stated revenue goals, and are held accountable every step of the way by employees to private investors, from regulatory government bodies to shareholders and Wall Street analysts.
