Software Engineer

SOFTRAX Corporation is seeking an experienced software developer with a financial application background for a role which would involve the development of customizations on a billable basis. The development would involve the Operations, Financials, and Contrax product suites. All of the aforementioned products involve contract and billing management for software and internet companies with subscription or metered pricing.

Key knowledge in Client/Server and N-tier architectures, strong O-O development, Microsoft component development (COM objects), database, and ability to work with PowerBuilder is required. The candidate must possess highly effective communication skills and will work closely with the team leader/members. The ability to understand complex designs effectively and follow the set standards is also a significant part of this position as most of the development will be customization to the core product and require collaboration with other technical services and development resources.

Requirements:
Three to five years experience in commercial software product design and development. Experience with using object-oriented techniques is required, as is a thorough knowledge of client-server and N-tier architectures.

Domain experience in financials or operations products, or related enterprise products such as ERP, or a similar product is also valuable. Knowledge of financial software is especially valuable.

• Strong OO design and development skills

• Working knowledge of COM objects
• SQL Server\Oracle DBMS experience
• Strong communication\documentation skills
• Exposure to ASP, ASP.NET, C#
• Some exposure to JavaScript or VBScript

Preferred Skills

• Exposure to PowerBuilder (Version 7+ preferred) or Visual Basic 6+ (at least 1 yr)
• J++ / COM experience is a plus
• Crystal Reports
• Finance Background (Working knowledge of Journal Entry, Invoicing, etc)
• Experience working in a team environment
• Ability to work closely with QA\Product Management\Marketing, as well as Customers
• Ability to quickly adapt and understand various business processes
